The Chinnaswamy stampede, which occurred on June 04 in Bengaluru following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) maiden Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) on June 03 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has paved the way for two resignations of senior Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jairam have resigned from their respective positions citing "moral responsibility."
The Chinnaswamy stampede killed 11 lives and left several others injured. Currently, no one is ready to take ownership of the incident, which has angered the public, experts and fans. KSCA is blaming RCB, while the latter is blaming the Karnataka Government. On June 06, RCB's marketing head, Nikhal Sosale, was arrested. However, KSCA is feeling the heat, and due to that the resignations occurred.
In the formal letter to the KSCA on Friday night, Shankar and Jairam wrote: "Due to the unforeseen and unfortunate events that have unfolded in the last two days, and though our role was very limited, owing moral responsibility, we wish to state that last night we have tendered our resignation to our respective posts as secretary and treasurer of the KSCA."

What happened after the Chinnaswamy Stampede occurred?
After 11 people died, the Bengaluru Police filed a first information report (FIR) against the RCB team on June 05. The FIR which was seen by ESPNCricinfo, strictly gave warning and denied permission to not conduct an open bus parade at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, around the afternoon time when a stampede occurred. In the FIR, RCB was first on the list to be accused, along with DNA Entertainment, the team's event partners, and the KSCA, which has ownership of the stadium.
For the unversed, RCB has refused to take arrest charge of their marketing head Sosale, stating it was sheer conspiracy. The accused has challenged arrest charges and have gone to Karnataka High Court, according to Bar and Bench, an Indian-based news platform. It is to be noted that RCB has not yet issued an official statement of the charges they have been accused of the stampede, which occurred on June 04. However, it has announced INR 10 lakh compensation to 11 family members of the deceased.
