Virat Kohli playfully teased KL Rahul for his Kantara celebration after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) comfortably defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 27.
This victory allowed RCB to exact revenge on Delhi and maintain their perfect away record this season. It also propelled them to the top of the points table, putting them in a strong position for a playoff berth. RCB now looks solid both on paper and on the field. With Krunal Pandya getting his biggest break with the bat, the team seems to have found its perfect playing XI for the remainder of the season.
The only concern for RCB will be their form at home, as all their defeats this season have come at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Kohli and Rahul’s Playful Banter After the Match
Kohli contributed significantly with a solid innings, scoring 50 runs off 45 balls. He formed a crucial partnership with Krunal Pandya, which helped lead RCB to victory over Delhi Capitals. Following the match, Virat Kohli shared a humorous remark with KL Rahul regarding his Kantara celebration, and the exchange quickly went viral. It was a funny exchange between the veterans, as they always share a very good relationship on and off the field.Â
This marked Kohli's fifth fifty of the season, keeping him in contention for the orange cap as the tournament’s leading run-scorer. While some criticized his innings for being the slowest fifty of the season, Kohli explained his approach:Â
"I try to ensure I don’t miss out on singles and doubles while combining them with occasional boundaries. This season, you can't just come out and hit; you have to assess the conditions and plan accordingly."
So far, Virat Kohli has amassed 443 runs this season at an average of 63, with a strike rate of 139.04. He has scored six fifties, including four fifties in four run-chase matches, remaining unbeaten in three of those.
