IPL 2025 Match 16 LSG vs MI Highlights: Aiden Markram Scores a Fifty

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) scored 203 runs in their 20 overs in the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Stadium.

MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. LSG openers Aiden Markram (53 runs off 38 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (60 runs off 31 balls) kicked off proceedings with intent, capitalising on a batting-friendly surface, which is very rare in Lucknow.

By the end of the powerplay, LSG had raced to 69/0 with Marsh leading the charge, smashing a rapid 50 off just 27 balls. MI’s bowlers, including Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and Ashwani Kumar, struggled to find their lengths, leaking runs as Marsh dispatched loose deliveries with ease, setting a commanding tone.

As the innings progressed into the middle overs, MI sought to claw back some control. In the seventh over, left-arm wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur struck a crucial blow, dismissing Marsh for 60 off 31 balls. Marsh, attempting to work a googly to the leg side, got a leading edge that looped back to the bowler, ending a blistering knock that included nine fours and two sixes.

Nicholas Pooran (12 runs off 6 balls) joined Markram at the crease and the pair wasted no time in maintaining the momentum. Pooran, in scintillating form this season, smashed a couple of boundaries off Santner, including a six. However, the West Indian was dismissed by Pandya in the fifth ball of the ninth over.

The LSG captain continued his torrid run in the tournament. Pandya induced a leading edge off Pant’s bat as Corbin Bosch took a diving catch at mid-off.

At a time when Mumbai Indians were dominating, Ayush Badoni (30 runs off 19 balls) played a counter-attacking innings against the run of play. He took on Santner in the 14th over, hitting three consecutive fours.

Markram also changed the gear and smashed Ashwani for a six in the first ball of the 16th over. Badoni played a scoop three balls later and gathered a four to add to the pressure piling up on Ashwani. However, the youngster made a stunning comeback and showed the exit door in Badoni in the following delivery.
