Prasidh Krishna on the use of saliva

Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Prasidh Krishna is second on the Purple Cap list in IPL 2025 with 16 wickets from 8 matches in IPL 2025. Playing for GT, he has been able to bring all his expertise with the ball.

He has picked up wickets in almost every game and has made an impact in the game against well. In the last two games against KKR and DC, he has picked up a total of six wickets for just over 60 runs with the ball.

With BCCI bringing back the use of saliva on the ball this season, Prasidh Krishna has been able to reap the rewards and has made the most of that allowance.

Saliva Has Worked As A Chain Reaction: Prasidh Krishna

Pradish credited BCCI's rule change for bringing the pacers back into the game. He spoke about how the use of saliva is helping bowlers bring back the art of reverse wing back into T20 cricket. He said that the use of saliva has been a sort of chain reaction, which is making the pacers more effective in the final overs.

“It has played a bit of a part because if you look at what the ball does with the saliva on it, even if it means that one out of the 120 balls tears in a little more, that means you get a wicket that’s an extra dot ball,” Prasidh Krishna replied to India Today's question in the JioStar press room.
“And if that happens at a crucial stage when the right batsman gets out, that means you slow down the run rate and you get the momentum back. So, it has a chain reaction kind of a thing. And it definitely helped the bowlers,” Prasidh explained.

He further spoke about his learnings from GT head coach Ashish Nehra. He said that he has worked a lot alongside Nehra and worked hard on understanding the nature of the pitches.

“I was very clear about what I wanted to work on, made sure I put in the hours, and had the right conversations with Ashish Nehra. One thing that I’ve learned from him is about reading the conditions, the pitch, making sure you make the right decisions when you’re at the top of the mark,” he concluded.

Gujarat Titans are placed second on the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points from 8 games. They next take on the Rajasthan Royals on April 28 in Jaipur.
