IPL 2025: "This Is Normal" - Mayank Yadav On His Reduced Pace After Injury Return

Mayank Yadav News LSG

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav made a return to the IPL after recovering from multiple injuries. He missed the first half of IPL 2025 due to his rehabilitation.

Yadav returned to the IPL in the match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 27. He then played LSG's match against PBKS on June 5. The pacer has been away from competitive cricket for six months since picking up multiple injuries.

The pacer asserted that after coming back from a long injury layoff, the body will take some time to return to previous fitness standards. He further said that his pace has reduced due to his injury, which is something very normal.

Body Will Adapt And Take Its Own Time - Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav impressed one and all in IPL 2024 with his pace, which also paved the path to his T20I international debut for India. He made his T20I international debut against Bangladesh in October 2024 and was completely out of the game till he returned in the second half of IPL 2025.

"This is normal. I had a major injury because of which I was out of cricket for five to six months. The body will adapt and take its own time. I will have to give some time to my body and my bowling to get those speeds back. There have been no changes in my bowling technique," Mayank said ahead of LSG's match against RCB.

He further spoke about how he will go about his business in regaining full fitness. He previously missed a lot of international cricket with a back injury. His IPL return was delayed due to a toe injury.

"There is no drastic change in my strategy. I will continue to do what I used to. My body is taking a little time. I have not seen the intensity, [and] the match pressure for a while now. So it is very normal that the body is responding a little differently after a major injury. I don't have a different mindset or intent. That remains the same. But I need to read the wickets and the batsmen quicker," Mayank said.
