The Pakistan Cricket Board issued an official statement regarding the internal conflict within the team involving skipper Saim Ayub, who reportedly told coach Mike Hesson that he was unhappy with the attitude of Shaheen Shah Afridi on the field. The board has dismissed the rumour, stating that it is based on baseless allegations.
PCB Slams Viral Social Media Rumours
The rumours began with a social media post this morning, which spread like wildfire. However, the PCB has added that strict action will be taken against those who created the post.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board categorically denies the baseless, fabricated, and defamatory allegations currently being circulated on social media pertaining to an alleged incident involving Shaheen Afridi, team captain Salman Ali Agha, and a member of the coaching staff,” the PCB said in an official statement.

The board Warns of Legal Action Over Shaheen Afridi Allegations
The PCB accused unnamed individuals of launching a "calculated and reprehensible attempt" to disrupt the unity of the team and tarnish the reputations of those involved. It further said that the Board would initiate "stringent legal proceedings, including but not limited to defamation and cybercrime charges," against the perpetrators.
The viral post sparked major criticism from fans, many of whom expressed dissatisfaction with Shaheen’s attitude. He faced significant backlash from a section of supporters concerned about the team's unity, with some speculating that Shaheen is unwilling to cooperate with the team’s new coaching setup.

PCB Urges Public and Media to Avoid Spreading Unverified Information
However, the PCB urged the public not to believe in fabricated and unverified messages circulating on social media.
Urging restraint and responsibility, the Board appealed to the public, media, and digital platforms not to engage with or promote unverified information. “The PCB remains committed to protecting its players, staff, and the sanctity of the national team from unwarranted and harmful speculation,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan began their West Indies tour with a win in the first T20I, defeating the hosts by 14 runs in Florida. Salman Agha and Mohammad Nawaz shone in the victory, while Shamar Joseph showcased his all-round potential. The limited over series still has two T20Is remaining, followed by three ODIs, running until August 12.
Following the West Indies tour, Pakistan will begin preparations for the T20I tri-series in the UAE, involving Afghanistan, starting on August 29 in Sharjah—just ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.
