Former Under-19 captain Prithvi Shaw is all set to make his grand debut for Maharashtra in the upcoming All India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. The right-hand batter parted ways with Mumbai earlier in 2025 to join Maharashtra after he was snubbed for the majority part of the last season's domestic tournament. While the reason for the youngster being overlooked for Mumbai's team was, fitness - one of the main reasons why he was left out of the last domestic season.

However, while playing for Maharashtra, Shaw would be desperate to score runs and be in the reckoning of the national team. He was named in Maharashtra's 17-member squad for the Buchi Babu tournament. The 25-year-old will be playing under Ankit Bawane, which also sees Chennai Super Kings (CSK) leader Ruturaj Gaikwad in the team. The tournament will kick off in Chennai from August 18 to September 9.

Apart from Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad keen to make an impact

Gaikwad last featured in a warm-up game between India A and India ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. He was also keen to make an impact after being overlooked by the selectors. However, both Gaikwad and keeper-batter Saurabh Nawale are set to leave after playing just one game, as they would be required to team up with the West Zone squad for Bengaluru for the Duleep Trophy 2025 season. West Zone will directly play their first semis match on September 04.
