After attending the SA20 auction, Sourav Ganguly is all set to return to cricket administration, expected to begin on September 28. The former BCCI President will represent the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) at the Board's Annual General Meeting (AGM). Notably, BCCI set the deadline on September 12 as the last date for the state associations to submit their candidatures for the Board AGM to be held in Mumbai.

The former India captain is expected to replace his brother Snehasish, as he may no longer continue in the pole position as per the Lodha Committee recommendation, and needs to have cooling-off-time after being in the position for almost six years.

As per reports, CAB called an emergency meeting of the Apex Committee, & the former BCCI President's name has been unanimously chosen by the members. Several pointers, including the upcoming BCCI elections, will be debated in the BCCI AGM. The elections will be held on September 28, which will determine who will be president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer for cricket board. Most likely on September 23 names of the presidential candidates will be announced.

Sachin Tendulkar declines BCCI Presidential rumors

Notably, there were swirling rumors for two days that Sachin Tendulkar is set to replace Roger Binny as BCCI President. However, the legendary batter has denied those speculations.

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumors have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
"We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place.
“We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations.”

Speaking about Ganguly, he served as CAB President and quit his role in 2019 after a four-year tenure to join the BCCI as President.
