England wicketkeeper batter Sam Billings, who is currently playing the ongoing 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) was asked to pick between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the PSL. A Pakistani reporter asked him this question following his side's match against the Karachi Kings on Tuesday. Billings, in a very polite manner, without being rude, made his preference clear - calling the IPL hands down the best T20 competition in the world.

“You want me to say something silly?” he said, anticipating the intent behind the question posed by the journalist.
“It is difficult to ignore IPL as the best competition in the world, it is very clear every other competition is behind it.”

Sam Billings explains why IPL is the best T20 league among other leagues

The English batter went on to explain why the IPL is miles ahead of other leagues in the world. Billings also added that while leagues like PSL, The Hundred, and BBL are also good, the IPL's quality and competitiveness make it the best T20 league.

“You know, in England, we are trying to do the same like PSL as the second-best competition in the world, Big Bash too trying to do the same.”

Billings' comments were not dismissive about PSL, BBL, or other leagues, underscoring the massive stature IPL has among players and fans alike.

For the unversed, this is not the first time that the Pakistani reporter has brought up IPL topics to the players playing PSL. David Warner was also asked about going unsold in the IPL mega auction earlier in December 2024.
