The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has landed in trouble. A new report by the Auditor General of Pakistan found serious corruption and misuse of money.
In the 2023-24 season, the PCB had two chairmen, Zaka Ashraf from June 2023 to January 2024, and Mohsin Naqvi from February 2024 to present.Â
Cricket is the most loved sport in Pakistan and people expect the PCB to be honest and well-managed. But this report has damaged its image and called for immediate action.

Corruption Charges Mount Against PCB After Explosive Audit
The report shares many shocking details. One of them is a payment of 63.39 million rupees to the police just for providing meals during international matches.Â
It also found that three coaches were hired illegally for the Under-16 category at the High Performance Centre in Karachi. They were paid a total of 5.4 million rupees in salaries. The audit says that ticketing contracts were given without proper competition.
Other issues include overpayment of 3.8 million rupees to match officials and the irregular hiring of a Director of Media at a very high salary of 900,000 rupees per month. The report also revealed that 19.8 million rupees were spent on diesel for bulletproof vehicles and 22.5 million rupees on hiring coasters.
The current chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also been named in the report. Between February and June 2024, he received unauthorized payments of 4.17 million rupees for utilities, POL and housing. Since Naqvi is also the Interior Minister, all his official expenses were already covered by the government.
On-Field Struggles Add to Pakistan’s Woes
The problems for the PCB are not just off the field. The team’s poor performance has also added pressure on the board. Things got worse during the Champions Trophy 2025, where Pakistan failed to reach the semi-finals despite playing at home.Â
Under Naqvi’s chairmanship, there have been many changes in the team setup. Several captains and coaches have come and gone. Right now, New Zealand’s Mike Hesson is the white-ball head coach, and Salman Ali Agha is leading the T20 team.Â
Notably, Pakistan will play three T20Is against Bangladesh, starting from July 20.
