Australia has received a massive boost as talisman Mitchell Starc returns for the India ODI series. Alongside the left-arm pacer, Matthew Short, Mitchell Owen also returned to the 15-member squad following a side strain and concussion, respectively. Matthew Renshaw has also been recalled after a long layoff.
Mitchell Marsh will continue to lead the ODI side in the absence of Pat Cummins, having opted to take a break to be fit for the Winter Ashes Down Under, starting on November 21. Apart from the ODI squad announcement, Australia has also named a squad for the first two T20Is of the five-match T20 Â series, which will be played from October 29 to November 8.

Speaking about Starc, this will be his first assignment, having missed the South Africa series as he decided to take a break for the Ashes series. In the meantime, the veteran has also retired from T20Is. Other players to miss out on the squad are Marnus Labuschagne, Sean Abbott, Aaron Hardie, and Matthew Kuhnemann, who were part of Australia's previous ODI series against South Africa in August this year.
Renshaw has returned to the ODI setup since 2022, following good performances for Australia A and Queensland. The rest of the squad bears a similar look, which includes Travis Head, Josh Inglis, alongside Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, and skipper Marsh. The bowling will consist of Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, and Ben Dwarshuis alongside Starc. Adam Zampa is the only front line spinner in the squad.

George Bailey happy to name a strong ODI squad against India
"We have named a squad for the ODI series and the first two games of the T20 series, as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket," said selection committee chair George Bailey.
"The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it's an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year; however, we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead."
