IPL 2025 - CSK vs SRH: Hyderabad Beat Chennai by 5 Wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 25.

Chasing 155 runs, SRH lost their opener Abhishek Sharma (0 runs off 2 balls) on the second ball of the innings as Khaleel Ahmed struck early in this must-win clash.

While SRH managed to steady the innings, CSK ensured that they kept the run rate in check. Ishan Kishan (44 runs off 34 balls) struck a few boundaries, but Travis Head (19 runs off 16 balls) struggled on the other end.

Anshul Kamboj brought an end to Head’s misery in the sixth over as SRH closed the powerplay at 37 runs for the loss of two wickets.

CSK continued to chip in with wickets. Heinrich Klaasen (7 runs off 8 balls) holed out at long-on off Ravindra Jadeja in the ninth over.

Sam Curran, bowling the 10th over, released the pressure off SRH as he conceded two boundaries, including a six by Aniket Verma (19 runs off 19 balls). 14 runs came off the over as SRH stood at 69 runs for the loss of three wickets in 10 overs.

Aniket smashed another six in the 11th over off Jadeja. Kishan followed suit, depositing the ball into the stands off Noor Ahmad in the 12th over. However, Noor took his revenge on the very next ball by dismissing Kishan.

Noor took another wicket in the form of Aniket in the 14th over to bring CSK back in the game.

Kamindu Mendis (32* runs off 22 balls), who walked out to bat at No. 6, batted smartly and collected boundaries at regular intervals to keep the required rate within the range.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (19* runs off 13 balls) smacked two boundaries off Matheesha Pathirana's bowling in the 17th over to almost seal the game. The 49-run partnership between Mendis and Reddy for the sixth wicket took SRH home in 18.4 overs as CSK suffered a five-wicket defeat at their home.

With this victory, SRH moved to eighth place on the IPL 2025 points table. On the other hand, CSK continues to be at the bottom.
