Gujarat Giants (GG) got off to a sedate start in pursuit of 178 run target set by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL). DC power play enforcer Shikha Pandey was hard to get away as she picked up the first wicket of Hemalatha for just (1) run. Pandey was meticulous with her line and lengths and did not give an inch to GG's batters. Beth Mooney, who is pretty much an aggressive player, also struggled for timing against Pandey.
Giving good company to the Indin bowler was South African star Kapp. The pacer bowled three overs and conceded just 18 runs. Pandey's and Kapp's disciplined bowling ensured GG were off to a slow start in the first 10 overs of the 178-run target. DC have a good bowling lineup in the middle overs, as Jonnasen, Titas Sadhu, and Sutherland are in good form.

With only 75 runs on board in the first 10 overs, DC having an upper hand heading into the next 10 overs. Although GG have Dottin and Gardner in the shed, the Ekana pitch tends to slow in the latter half of the innings. Mooney should play the anchor role of GG need to hunt this huge target down.
